Every election cycle there are questionnaires presented to candidates by organizations new and old.
Some groups just want to get a response on the record. Some groups want to illuminate the issues. Some present questions that are more like their position statement than attempts to ferret out the candidate’s position. Some groups, like Neighborhoods for Responsible Growth (NRG) and the Indy, are well established. Some groups are new, like Citizens For Responsible Government.
No matter who ask the question, a group of respected neighbors with long standing, a “here today, gone tomorrow” advocacy operation or a particular media outlet with a bit of bias, I do my best to answer clearly, fully and consistently.
Final comment. Some groups restrict word count to the point that answering in more than a soundbite is nearly impossible (some have questions that are longer than 50 words but expect a response that is 50!).
One, the Chamber of Commerce, doesn’t even provide an opportunity for explanation but restricts responses to a very opaque “yes, no, I don’t know” format.
